Dirty Romance

Harrowing, compassionate, perverse

Chul-joong is too busy caring for his disabled sister’s health, and forcing his friend to sexually please her, to notice that an unconventional romance may await her; if only he allowed someone to love her for who she is. A masterful weaving of light and dark that is uniquely shocking, provocative and poignant.

Chul-joong is seeking love and marriage, the normal aspirations, but his life is not normal and he is slowly deteriorating. His intellectually and developmentally disabled sister is wearing down his patience and his frustration is mounting. Meanwhile his old school friend, Chang-ji, is also dedicated to caring for his dementia suffering mother. With their attention dedicated to their family responsibilities, time to mature seems to have passed them by, and their focus on themselves takes on a perverse edge.

An independent festival circuit breakout, Dirty Romance is a harrowing yet compassionate and deeply moving drama unlike anything you will have seen before, that deliriously dances through themes of love, resentment, and freedom.
